A Bit of Spontaneity to Kick Off the Long Weekend

Yesterday, as I was heading to work, I decided I needed to get my hair trimmed. My split ends are a nightmare and my hair has been extremely dry and brittle in between treatments. So I made an appointment.

Then today, as I was heading to the hair salon, I decided I wanted something more drastic than a trim. I get my hair cut so rarely that I always want my visit to result in a noticeable difference... so I am not very good at sticking to a plan of just trimming my hair, regardless of how much I like the length. Check out how much I cut off! Holy macaroni, I had a lot of hair.

Let's just say hair stylists are always surprised by how much I want cut off. :) I absolutely love the new length... it is so much lighter and looks so much healthier! While I loved my long hair, now that I see the side-by-side comparison, it looks like I was drowning in hair. My hair stylist flat-ironed my hair so it looks extra sleek and smooth. I'm going to add some texture later! I can't wait to play around with my new 'do. :)

When you get your hair cut, do you usually play it safe and get a trim or do you like to to get a lot cut off?

  4. Love your new haircut. Very fresh-looking. I always have a plan before going to the hair salon. But then just before I get there, I always change my mind and want something more drastic to get my $ worth haha! Happy long weekend! Gorgeous weather.

    1. hahaaa i've thought that too - to get my money's worth! :) cutting my hair is such a spur of the moment decision with me! i typically decide the day of or the day before (i suddenly get sick of my hair) so i haven't had the time to give it much thought. plus i change my mind so often that i'm never sure what i'll get done until i get to the salon. hope you have a wonderful long weekend! :)

  5. Your hair looks great! I did like your big mane before but the new cut looks really nice too. :) I tend to go in cycles - I grow out my hair very long and then I cut all of it off. This last time I cut it, was the shortest I ever had it! In the front I had my hair as long as my chin, while the back was less than an inch long. It looked great, but the growing out period is torturous!

    1. thank you!! :) you have beautiful hair so i can see why you want to keep the length and the shape. my hair seems to grow pretty quickly so i don't mind chopping it all off every now and then. :)

    2. I do too! When you're Asian, you always look young. I still get told by clients to go and ask my manager for permission to do things even though I am the director of my own store. I think I look like I'm 12...and I just got bangs which makes me look even younger at times!

  10. I didn't realize your hair was that long. What a change and it's probably a welcoming one. It looks so healthy and fresh (not that it didn't before).

I remember when I cut off over 8 inches because I wanted all my ombre out of my hair. I missed the length so much but it grew back quickly.

  11. Your new haircut is lovely! Much lighter for summer right? As soon as it starts getting really warm, I feel the urge to cut my hair so I don't overheat :P

    1. thank you very much! it is much lighter for the summer. :) i thought it'd be a good time to get it cut as i heard that may and june would be much warmer than normal, although you wouldn't know it from the cool down we had the last couple of days!

  13. The new cut looks great~
I would choose trims, but I hate getting my hair cut so much, that by the time I do go for a "trim" it needs to be chopped off. Just got a cut a few weeks back as well...I loved the old length, but it was so unhealthy, so I'm promising myself I will go for regular trims this time around.

    1. thank you!! :) i like getting my hair cut but i probably only go once or twice a year. as soon as i get it in my mind to get my hair cut though, i feel compelled to go immediately! it never crosses my mind to for a trim... not sure why!
