MaskerAide Detox Diva Review

I received a MaskerAide sheet mask in my October Topbox and I was very excited to try it. I had never used a sheet mask before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Now that I've tried one, I think I could easily become addicted!

Maskeraide is a Canadian company started by Karyn (a Canadian makeup artist and model - now in marketing and social media) and Michelle (a cosmetic and skin care addict from Korea). The masks are made in Korea. They are free of parabens, harsh dyes & pigments, mineral oils, artificial fragrances, benzophenone, and glycerins. There are currently 6 variations available and I received the Detox Diva mask.

Before using the mask, I did my usual facial cleansing routine (wash and tone). I also drew myself a hot bath. :) I opened the packet and very carefully unfolded the mask. I was a little worried I would rip it but it held up ok. I placed the mask on my face and it was very easy to adjust the mask to fit as the sheet has little cutouts in strategic places.

The packet says to rub excess serum from the packet onto your neck and chest so that's exactly what I did. The serum has a medium viscosity and almost feels like a gel, which probably helps the mask to stay on your face. The mask was very cooling and the Detox Diva mask in particular smelled very clean and fresh. It smelled so familiar but I can't place the scent. Sorry I can't describe it better - I even looked at the ingredients but all I can think is that it smells like aloe (oh, aloe is on the list of ingredients... there are also a lot of fruit extracts on the list). Anyway, it smells absolutely amazing.

Then I sank into my hot bath and just relaxed. I left the mask on for around 20 minutes (10-20 minutes recommended) and it was very comfortable. I pretty much forgot I was even wearing it. It stayed on really well (didn't slide off or even budge in the slightest). The mask was very easy to remove and it left my face feeling very soft. I'm not sure if it was just my imagination but I felt it might have made my skin look a little more radiant.

The only downside to this mask, beside making you look a little scary while wearing it, is the price. Each mask retails for $4.99, which I think is a little on the expensive side. It's definitely worth it for occasional use though - it was really a treat and I felt totally pampered!

There are 6 different of masks available and I used my $10 Topbox credit to buy them all! The regular price of the set of 6 different masks is $29 on Topbox's new online store but you can also buy 4 of the same mask for $19. Shipping was super quick - the masks shipped the same day I ordered them and I received the package a couple days later. I am very impressed with the Topbox store so far - I received a note card with a little hand-written message from Isabel, which I thought was a very nice touch. Here are the masks I received:

- Detox Diva - cleanse, exfoliate & detoxify
- All Nighter - awaken, replenish & refresh
- I Don't Wanna Grow Up - lift, firm & soften fine lines
- Beauty Rest'ore - restore, regenerate & repair
- Weather Warrior - calm, soothe & heal
- Pre Party Prep - brighten, prime & energize

Hooray! I can't wait to try them all. I'm going to see if my hubby wants to use my new Detox Diva mask since I've already tried that one. I'll let you know what he thinks of it. Do you use sheet masks on a regular basis and, if so, which ones would you recommend? Also, please let me know if you've tried any of the MaskerAide products!

  1. I love sheet masks, but I typically use Asian brands. While it's nice that these Maskeraide masks are available locally, Asian masks are usually around $10 for a pack of 10, which is much cheaper, and they bring similar results if not better. You should look into My Beauty Diary masks if you liked these! :)

    1. i bought mine from topbox.ca but you can also buy them from the maskeraide website. if you get a chance to go to pacific mall though, there are korean brands that are apparently a lot less expensive at 10 for $10... i may try those ones next. :)

  8. I bought a couple sheets masks for relatively cheap at Pacific Mall. If you go, I don't recommend the Holika Holika Cucumber mask. It smells like pickles and I felt a burning sensation while I had it on :(
I'm going to order a couple of these MaskerAide masks and see if they are better for sensitive skin. Thanks for the review :)

    1. thanks for the heads up... i will keep that in mind. burning sheet mask does not sound pleasant!!

not sheet masks but those balea masks from shoppers drug mart burn my face like crazy so i don't buy those anymore either. i have one more to finish and i am just dreading it.

crossing my fingers that the maskeraide ones will work out. a few people have recommended the $1 masks from "my beauty diary" i believe. next time, i'm at t&t, i'm going to take a look for them!

  9. I don't remember seeing that store, I'll have to look for it next time. I have a green tea mask that's "C&F" brand but I don't remember what store I bought it in. Hopefully I have better luck with that one. Some of the MaskerAide masks are on sale for $4.50 at well.ca so I'm going to order a couple :)
